Companies who are trying to “shut the exits” in order to retain talents are wasting time and opportunities. They must accept the risk of “opening the door”; not chasing after people (often too late) who want to leave, or worse, who are staying with no more attachment to the Company and willing to contribute.

It is best to open the door: throughout time it will generate development regarding retention and brand. As long as Company can truly measure people experience, drive them and respond to major reasons of estrangement.

Remember that 1) often people leave the manager, not the Company and that 2) it is possible to measure, Company wide, the critical issues of employer experience so to provide early solutions and actions.
